language is a tricky thing. it’s possible to convey the most beautiful and heartfelt experiences with just a few words but meanings can be lost in translation. language itself being just a symbol pointing to the actual thing, like fingers pointing to the moon it’s key not to mistake the finger for the actual moon. if you do you might miss all the heavenly glory the finger is pointing to. the map is not the territory. kiani & his legion is back on sohaso with the next chapter in his sonic explorations. a mini-album that’s more than the sum of it parts, drawing you in with a story worth to be told. using a language that doesn’t need to be explained trough words, the symbols merge with their meaning trough sound. the story commences with a female voice whispering gently to you to ‘close your eyes and fly’ and while making your journey don’t forget to ‘breath’. you get introduced to the sturdy drum patterns and eerie string pads that have become main ingredients for kiani’s soundworld. eindeloos takes an irresistible groove and badass walking bass winding up between endless flanging spirals. oval flight starts out with the cheeky sound of an electric harp but inside it hides a seed that sprouts to enormous proportions. beneath the beauty you can feel something sweltering, wanting to expose itself. it links back to the beginning and finally lifts you off with a grand gesture. if you remember me then i don’t care if veryone else forgets, uses haunting atmospheres that remind of 80’s science fiction or the eerie vibes found in twin peaks to provide safe landing ground beneath the feet after your flight. l.o.v.e. forms an appropriate conclusion to the story, reflecting with a melancholic chord progression, soul healing choirs and the phonetic symbols ‘lima, oscar, victor, echo’ repeating till infinity.

after multiple cassette and 12” releases through kastil’s stale in 2016, it’s time for irazu’s latest addition to the series of complex techno works. “shtamm” is a package that contains four original cuts + a remix by specialist of high-end machine music regis. “refused to be found” is a soaring travel through moods and sonic landscapes which at times resonates like a helicopter flying through an inner city estate building. the aesthetic nature of the opening track is extended through “shtamm”. a multi dimensional piece of work that showcases a more submersive side of irazu s broad pallette. “last hours” is a cinematic stroke of vivid pads that sound like they were extracted from a remastered russian thriller classic. regis opens ups the b-side with a rework of “shtamm”. the off-beat machine funk of the remix leaves little of the original mix intact, yet regis has turned it into a staggering piece of ferocity. “torso” is another irazu original that sound like 7.5 minutes of vigorous rhythms and swerving perc elements.

this june session victim return to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album.listen to your heartis the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lpsee you when you get there. here we present the first of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew. bring it back gets things rolling with session victim’s trademark live drum breaks, looped up pads and hooky vocal samples. only good vibes here, with uplifting keys bringing a warm and soulful edge whilst shimmering juno notes add a floaty element to get lost in. next up we have if we can make it here, the title being something of an in-joke with the boys when they find themselves in the more remote or far-flung corners of the world performing their music to an appreciating crowd. the track is based around a simple yet beautiful 4-bar chord progression repeating throughout and shows svm in a playful and jazzy mood, managing to include soloing flute and marching snare drum rhythms without as much of a flinch!moons and flowers is up next, another sublime slice of hazy house music with a wonderful organic and live sound palette. echoing rhodes licks join dubby synth fx, adding waves of colour whilst the gentle vocal provides the icing on the space-cake. lastly we have the hatch, which winds things down somewhat for a lovely, somewhat stoned interlude track which is over all too soon. an impeccable demonstration of retro-inspired yet forward thinking house,listen to your heartsees session victim at the top of their game.

gospel disco time again!!!! after the sucess of -the power of you re love- we deceded to pull out a couple more of our gospel disco dancefloor favorites. elbernita -twinkie- clark-terrell ( who was in the the clark sisters before going solo) recorded this beast for the lp ye shall receive power in 1980-81 for armen boladian s sound of gospel records out of detroit (a sub of the mighty westbound records). both tracks featured on the lp only so desperatly need some 45 action. i m not going to try and sell you this one with tales of its history all you need to do is drop the needle (or press the little play icon)..... straight up monster dancefloor destructor.

legendary dj daniele baldelli, who was resident at the infamous cosmic club on lake garda and pioneer of the cosmic sound, joins forces with italian maestro dj rocca and takes file under disco on a journey into outer disco space. famous as an extremely eclectic and open-minded dj, here baldelli transports this approach to the production of funkynoizer . and in the hands of a master producer like rocca the result is a track which fuses dub, afro, disco and electronic elements seamlessly into a tasty alternative discoid brew. remix action comes from brasilian duo selvagem (big fans of baldelli) whose reputation grows and grows with every spin of each record and every release that passes through their talented hands. here they dress the original in leopard skin pants and throw into into an all night, outdoor carnival party where anything goes. next up pete herbert & dicky trisco take the original on a heads down disco trip and work it to the bone. live driving bass, funky clav and a glorious piano line do a wonky waltz with the the afro dub essentials of the original. finally the man himself dj rocca treats us to a very classy disco-boogie version that would have rocked legendary parties back in the halcyon days of nyc disco

next up on accidental jnr are 2 club ready tracks from sydney producer cassius select that straddle genres somewhere between techno, bassline and hardcore. 90 is a gurgling brutal post-dubstep wobble fest at a house tempo whilst herd offers up select’s trademark idiosyncratic vocal snippets wrapped up in most broken and shuffled of techno rhythm . cassius select lives in the undefined sonic boroughs of the hardcore continuum. his first ep explored the grittier end of techno under australian label hunter gatherer followed by a 12- of unstable rhythm workouts under dj haus’ uttu label. the toronto native is hell bent on inciting movement in the most unorthodox ways. sonics crush genre-defining sounds into a pastiche of cryptic one liners and side eyes. drums that invoke an impossible sense of swing and momentum. most importantly select’s sound defines itself on the mission to deconstruct the world around him,to level out the playing field so everyone can have a bite. this year, select joins with uk imprint accidental jr. to release a two-track fury of sound that snarls with every grimace.

holding hands is blasting off with a bang of cosmic proportions, featuring two cuts from desert sound colony’s dance floor alter ego ‘dsc’. far reaching, as its name suggests, takes inspiration from the deep well of our musical past. drum & bass, jungle, breaks, house and hardcore are all present. that being said, this is not just a revival record. these sounds combined take your mind out of the past and place it firmly in a previously unimagined future. hard as nails to begin with, the track eventually builds to a glorious rapture. too hard is deep like the mariana trench and made for dance floor meditation. kicks rock you back and forth as a soft canvas of pads drapes itself over your mind. space is the place people, space is the place. both tracks are produced and sculpted for the club. they want big sound systems and dark rooms. close your eyes, hold hands and experience transcendental space flight…

i discovered benoit b through his own label - banlieue records. he’s part of a new breed of young french producers who make music without any hang-ups and that are inspired by the entire history of house and techno and everything in-between. i liked the combination of club beats with a deep, super melodic approach. the 6 tracks featured here almost make up an entire album that reflects benoit’s skills and sense of production. everything is here -from ambient experiments to heavyweight club tracks and beyond. here, bear witness to the new sound of france (even though he lives in berlin!)

brian tennessee claflin, aka prix, was a radical and fiery figure who worked on the intersecting fringes of berlins art and nightlife scenes since he moved there in 2006 up until his tragic death in 2014 at the age of 33. he ran the notorious sunday soirée pork at ficken3000, and left behind a small but very powerful body of art, developing a cult following of friends, family, and fans in a brief but intense period of frenetic activity. between 2009 and 2013, brian and his friend, the american cum berlin musician and producer snax, produced music and sound collages. all these productions met somewhere at the intersection of dance, voodoo, bitchiness and punk and several were used for brians performance pieces. the brian tennessee claflin foundation and snaxs random records are very proud to finally release two tracks from these sessions, as well as remixes, digital and as vinyl ep, in a limited edition of 500 hand-numbered copies.

fuse bosses enzo siragusa and seb zito have been invited by the highly respected rawax to bring a taste of their beloved london rave culture roots to the labels first release of 2017. since their launch in 2011, rawax’s catalogue has beamed with nothing less than the finest, and enzo and seb are a welcomed addition to their already colourful and diverse roster. barac, boo williams, fred p, paul johnson, ricardo villalobos, ron trent and unbroken dub are just a small portion of an incredible list of artists that have released via the labels original monarch and many offshoots thus far. with ‘woonie trax’ enzo and seb perfectly resurrect the sounds of early uk rave culture into the present by digging out the early gems of their record boxes as inspiration. “barring the kicks, i think almost everything came from sampling old garage, hardcore and jungle records from the 90 s. for those in the know, the clues are in the names of the tracks”. – enzo siragusa whilst ‘shades of riddim, ‘lil ley’, and ‘blue notes’ all lend themselves to the early uk sound, each track has its own individual quirk making the ep a diverse representation of the days enzo and seb fell in love with rave.

abstaxion and kasper bjørke return for their second collaboration on dc salas and abstraxions biologic records imprint. matin + nuit is a 3-track ep out in april. biologic records aim to explore the relationship between organic and analogue, natural and urban. this idea of polarity is addressed here through the themes of morning and night. matin is a ten-minute journey through a glistening landscape. celestial arpeggios and subtle dissonances are grounded by a hypnotic bassline and restrained percussion. ivre (drunk) takes an emotive turn. disorienting acid bass winds its way through mournful harmonies and overcast melodies, held together by a spirited rhythmic pattern. ‘nuit’, naturally, progresses into darker territory. there are familiar elements of disco, but they’ve been mangled to create something far more twisted. drums take the lead, punctuated by assertive bass stabs and ominous chords that howl through cavernous acoustics. matin + nuit explores seemingly familiar themes without the use of cliché, employing a diverse range of sound manipulation techniques to paint vivid imagery.

history freely dilates and collapses on valgeir sigurðsson’s dissonance, his first solo release since 2012. its three large-scale works are haunted by the old western tradition, infused with the ethereal workings of electronics and sound manipulation.
dissonance treads elegantly along a fine line between traditional symphonic organicism and the fissures of the faltering structures of reality. it takes forward sigurðsson’s typically expansive, panoramic writing, and elevates it to a perpetual construction and deconstruction of time and space.
these are hardly his first experiments with the archaic technology of classical instruments, but here the distance between past and present is precisely what the music itself is designed to explore, and to distort.

‘in time’ is the new album from renegade roots and reggae producer wrongtom and hackney’s veteran breakbeat/jungle mc’s the ragga twins. ‘in time’ strips back the jungle, d&b, garage sound that the ragga twins are recognised for pioneering today, to take you back to the ‘80s reggae and dancehall landscape where they started out. throughout the record, the ragga twins recall and explore a 30-year-long journey, where they uncover prescient lyrics and stories of their youth. wrongtom provides the beats and riddims as a perfect setting for this celebration of the dancehall and reggae scene.

perm is one of leipzig s most busy producers and performers of electronic music. after releases on shtum, mana all nite, dur, kann and nachtdigital in recent years, holger is more than happy to welcome him with a four-tracker that o ers a deep insight into his vision of timeless techno: airy and yet rmly grounded, with a foggy atmosphere that permeates a vast space of sound. it is trippy and hypnotic but also very bodily and highly energetic. with these qualities it ts very nicely with holger 11 (polo) and 12 (barnt) a perfect closer for this mini triplet series, a concept that has become sort of a trademark for the label.

soma are proud to present the debut album from rebekah as she unleashes the incredible “fear paralysis”. rebekah has consistently been one of the most ferocious and exciting techno artists for some time and is currently riding high within the soma ranks after debuting on the label back in 2015 with the audacious “confined heart ep”. this album has certainly been a labour of love for rebekah as uncertain times, musically, lead her to refocusing all her time and energy into developing her sound with the aim of creating a cleaner rhetoric than she was generally known for. the culmination of this process has found rebekah returning to a simpler time where elements from the depths are explored thoroughly within “fear paralysis”.

after starting out with eps showcasing tracks by various artists, invite’s choice is back with a 3 track ep by drafted.
the ep is opened by detached with it’s dominating, repeating tom/percussive low-end sound. the frequential spectrum is filled up by other percussive elements and reverb-filled effects, which give the track a spacious feel. oxidian starts out in your face with it’s droning and repetitive synth. the track evolves into an abstract apogee with intense synthesis before it breaks down again, allowing for a smooth mix to be made. sphere closes down this 3-track ep on the b-side and does so with lots of fast changing hi-hat and ride patterns and one sharp sounding synthesizer, which makes it a perfect b-side closing track. once again a great showcase of sustainable modern day electronic music by invite’s choice!

baby ford s minimal minded label is back in action with some psyched-out goodness from alex celler. the long-serving greek producer has many strings to his bow, but this release finds him tapping into his foundational sound as a steady ticking groove carries a richly produced bed of chimes and tones for the deepest moments in the dance. where -feudade- is a lilting, soothing trip, -vis a vis- heads into a more mysterious headspace peppered with nagging rhythmic trysts, crafty licks and fulsome bass to get the synapses popping. it s exactly how stripped down house music should be done, inventive to the last and yet utterly danceable.

robin de wolf delivered us three solid tracks under his new alter ego robert d . while un ni yo is a house track with a wavy sound and affective synths, the second a-sided track dommel is a banger that begins with a smooth intro that changes over into hard kicks and raw bass chords. on the b-side, you can find a more melancholic uptempo track that goes by the name of white s wisdom. interstellar funk tops it all off with a remix of un ni yo that combines the wavy sound of the original with synth-heavy electronics. an absolutly killer ep!

the third release of the vinyl only label another earth is upon us and its all about techno. esther duijn combines 2 acts together in a split ep series which compliment each others sound. for this release esther selected two notorious european techno producers she adores, opuswerk and lee holman. on the a side opuswerk delivers 2 deep driving techno tracks. rf thruster basically expands from beginning to end. this constant propulsion has a deep impact on any dance floor. he drew inspiration from jeff mills and planetary assault systems for this particular track. emdrive starts with an atmospheric intro and morphs into one epic build up that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. on the flip side lee holman bangs 2 deep and firm techno grooves like there is no tomorrow. while adaptive optics is rough on the edges it does pay attention to small details which make the track very dynamic. absorption lines puts the emphasis on a warmer atmosphere. with this track you can transform anything into a pulsating hot mass, according to esther

the latest outing on will & ink is a remix ep that finds parisian producers bambounou and simo cell team up for four reworked versions of yaleesa halls woodall lp. both artists are known for their releases on 50 weapons, livity sound and wisdom teeth. right here, on will & ink, two solo outings with another two collaborated remixes on the b-side showcase their dubbed out, stripped back and paranoid dark parisian trademark sound. their very specific sound sounds like little else and is a solid match with yaleesa hall and the amsterdam imprint as this ep proves.
